Fortnite is set to reintroduce content from previous battle passes in its next update, starting with skins from Chapter 5 Season 4: Absolute Doom. This Marvel-themed season ran from August 16 to November 2, 2024, featuring characters like Doctor Doom, Mysterio, Shuri, War Machine, Gwenpool, Emma Frost, and a Captain America version of Jonesy. These items will soon be available in the in-game shop.
Previously, Fortnite had a policy of never reselling battle pass content, making them exclusive purchases. However, as the game approaches its 10th anniversary, Epic Games abandoned this policy starting in 2024, with the Ultimate Doom season. They stated that battle pass content would not be sold separately for 18 months, a period that has now elapsed for Absolute Doom.
Epic Games teased the return via X/Twitter, showing vault doors opening to this content, which fans have welcomed. This change allows Epic to re-monetize characters individually at a higher price, while reducing FOMO for players who miss a battle pass.
Fortnite's next update launches tomorrow, packed with new additions, including a collaboration with popstar Olivia Rodrigo and a crossover with Neopets, before Epic Games takes its annual two-week summer break.
