Marvel's Wolverine Provides a Canonical Reason for Logan's Costume Regeneration

Marvel's Wolverine offers an explanation for why Logan's clothes can heal, much like his body.

Early in Marvel's Wolverine, Logan receives a proper superhero suit from Walter Langkowski. It's Wolverine's iconic suit from the comics, complete with cowl. Langkowski explains that the suit uses nano-tech, which can automatically repair Logan's suit in the field. It's a clever workaround to ensure Wolverine's suit doesn't get shredded beyond repair, leaving him to run around naked (though that wouldn't be out of character either).

However, this isn't just any nano-tech: it's Phalanx. In Marvel lore, the Phalanx are a cybernetic species that battles the X-Men and other heroes. They use their techno-organic lifeforms to infect other species and create a hivemind. Whether this has larger implications remains to be seen, but it's likely just a fun way to explain things to fans using established Marvel universe material. In the MCU, nano-tech is extremely popular and used prominently by Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the entire Avengers team in Endgame. It's nifty, though some feel the films have begun to over-rely on it for suits.

In X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a game that Insomniac's new title draws much inspiration from, Logan's wounds would also heal when out of combat. This sometimes meant his clothes would regenerate too, but there wasn't really an in-universe reason for this, though no one seemed to care back then.
