In an unexpected move this morning, Insomniac Games has officially announced the release date for Marvel's Wolverine. The game is set to launch on September 15, 2026.
This news broke via a social media post from Insomniac, which stated: 'Let's cut to the chase: Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15, 2026.' A brief six-second teaser was also shared alongside the announcement.
The reveal comes as a pleasant surprise, especially after fans had hoped to see Wolverine featured in a State of Play earlier this month, only to be let down when it didn't appear.
Marvel's Wolverine has been somewhat of a mystery since its initial reveal. The game was first teased at The Game Awards in 2021 with a short cinematic trailer. After that, it went quiet, aside from details leaked during a major Insomniac hack in 2023, until last year when a gory trailer debuted. That trailer showcased various locations and confirmed Liam Mcintyre, known for his role as JD Fenix in Gears, as the voice actor for Wolverine.
At that time, the PlayStation blog provided additional insights, describing the game as a 'global thriller' and mentioning familiar characters like Mystique and Omega Red that players will encounter during the adventure.
Marvel's Wolverine will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5.
