Mojang Studios has shared fresh details on upcoming Minecraft updates for 2026, revealing the release date for Tiny Takeover and offering a first look at the Chaos Cubed expansion.
The announcements were made during the Minecraft Live March 2026 presentation, where the developer showcased plans to evolve the Minecraft universe and enhance the core gameplay experience in the months ahead.
Kicking things off is Tiny Takeover, now scheduled to launch on March 24. While players already knew to expect revamped baby mobs, today's livestream gave a closer view of these charming creatures taking over the Overworld. Although tiny mobs have been around for years, Tiny Takeover gives nearly every critter a fresh makeover with updated visuals, new sound effects, and the ability to keep a mob as a baby permanently using an item called the Golden Dandelion. Farm mobs like pigs, cows, cats, and chickens will now spawn with what Mojang calls 'unique sound personalities.' Players can also spawn baby mobs using spawn eggs, with craftable name tags and a new trumpet sound effect included in the update.
Almost every baby mob has been enhanced, with new models for dozens of creatures. As listed by Mojang, the mobs benefiting from this update include:
- Baby farm mobs: puppies, kittens, piglets, calves, chicks, lambs, ocelots, and bunnies
- Baby mounts: donkeys, mules, and all horse variants
- Aquatic baby mobs: axolotls, dolphins, squids, and turtles
- Hostile and scary baby mobs: zombies, zombified piglins, hoglins, zoglins, zombie villagers, husks, gurgles, piglins, and striders
- Baby villagers: all seven variants
- Wild baby mobs: foxes, polar bears, pandas, bees, llamas, armadillos, goats, and snifflets
The Tiny Takeover segment at Minecraft Live expanded on features teased earlier this month. In contrast, Chaos Cubed is a brand-new update set to arrive at an unspecified time later in 2026.

While the March update focuses on mobs, Chaos Cubed aims to transform how players interact with their surroundings. A key feature is the sulfur cube, which alters its properties by absorbing nearby materials. Mojang has hinted at its capabilities but hasn't revealed full details yet, noting that players can also feed the sulfur cube.
This new mob can be found in sulfur caves, a fresh addition to the Overworld's cave layouts. These toxic areas, marked by yellow and red hues, include sulfur pools and other new blocks, with gas particles that can trigger harmful effects.
Mojang continues to refresh Minecraft block by block, introducing new mobs and caves to keep veteran players engaged. For more information, check out all the announcements from the March 2026 Minecraft Live show and the latest casting news for the upcoming A Minecraft Movie sequel.
