Street Fighter 6 is set to welcome a new DLC character on March 17: Alex, inspired by professional wrestling, with All Elite Wrestling's Kenny Omega providing the motion capture. At IGN Fan Fest 2026, Omega shared how a simple misunderstanding led to this opportunity.
Omega told IGN, 'When the news broke and they told me about Alex being one of the characters, they mentioned adding one of my moves as a gesture. I responded, 'That would be great, but I'm not sure when I could fit mocap into my schedule.' They were surprised and said, 'Oh, wait, you'd do the mocap?' I realized I had misunderstood, and they eagerly invited me. That confusion worked in my favor, leading to an invitation to the next Tokyo Game Show and a mocap session in Osaka at Capcom's studio. We completed it in one grueling 10-11 hour shoot, where I lost about eight or nine pounds of water weight, but it was totally worth it and fun.'
He also noted that the developers were receptive to his ideas, which were reflected in the final animations. Omega added that performing without an audience felt familiar due to his COVID-era experiences: 'Wrestling in empty arenas during COVID prepared me for this—it was like being back with just cameras and no crowd, bringing back those memories.'
Alex debuted in 1997's Street Fighter III: New Generation in arcades, with early concept art positioning him as a potential franchise face. In Street Fighter 6, his super moves include Raging Spear, Sledgecross Hammer, and The Final Prison. He also features an alternate level 2 super called the Omega Wing Buster, inspired by Kenny Omega's signature moves: the V-Trigger, Snap Dragon Suplex, and One Winged Angel.
