Uncharted's Nolan North is ready to reprise his role as Nathan Drake for Uncharted 5, as rumors swirl that a new game in the series is in development.
Although Sony hasn't officially announced a new Uncharted project, Naughty Dog has confirmed it's working on multiple games. In addition to the upcoming Intergalactic: Heretic Prophet, it's rumored that Shaun Escayg, director of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, is heading a team to create a new installment in the cherished adventure franchise.
North, who voices the iconic hero Nathan Drake, has expressed his willingness to return if asked, and he's even been staying in shape for when that call might come. He's also confident that Uncharted 5 would be a massive success if it happens, while cautioning that Naughty Dog should avoid a misstep like the fourth Indiana Jones film, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
"I think it would be one of the biggest games ever if they decided to do it," North said during the Gamergy show in Puerto Rico (via DomTheBomb/VGC). "It just depends if Sony wants to make money.
"I haven't heard anything, but you know, it is a business and my God, can you imagine if they did? I mean, it would be the biggest announcement in gaming. And I don't think that's hyperbole, I think that's true. I think that would be... to bring back a storied franchise like that? You just don't want to make a Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."
While Intergalactic is believed to be Naughty Dog's next release, fans are still eager for new entries in The Last of Us and Uncharted. It's been a decade since Uncharted 4 wrapped up Nathan Drake's story, but that gap also raises the possibility of a new adventure featuring his daughter, Cassie.
"You know, I try to stay in shape, just in case," Nolan concluded. "It was 10 years of work with good friends, good people, a great developer. I can't see a scenario that I would say no."
