Atlus Producer Hints at Possible Persona 1 and 2 Remakes: 'I Think We Have to Do' Them

Kazuhisa Wada, the producer behind Atlus' P-Studio, has stirred excitement among fans by suggesting that remakes of Persona 1 and 2 might be on the horizon. While he stopped short of confirming anything, Wada expressed a personal belief that these classic titles deserve the remake treatment.

In a recent interview with GamerBraves, Wada discussed the studio's development plans. With Persona 3 Reload having launched over two years ago and Persona 4 Revival set to release soon, fans are eager to know if the older entries in the series will get similar makeovers. Persona 1 and 2, which originally came out in the 1990s as Revelations: Persona and Persona 2: Innocent Sin/Eternal Punishment, have yet to receive modern remakes.

When asked about the possibility, Wada said, "At this point, I can’t say for sure, but personally, I think it’s something we should definitely do. I think we have to do it." While this isn't a confirmation, it marks the most encouraging statement yet for fans hoping to see these classic JRPGs revived.

Even if remakes are in the works, they likely won't arrive for several years. Meanwhile, Persona fans have plenty to look forward to. Persona 3 Reload received critical acclaim, including a 9/10 review from IGN, which praised its "timeless story of tragedy and hope with sharp emotional sincerity."

Persona 4 Revival is scheduled to launch on February 18, 2027, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Wada previously expressed confidence that it will "be a fresh and surprising product for both newcomers and long-time fans."

It's important to note that Wada's comments do not confirm that Atlus is developing Persona 1 and 2 remakes. However, his enthusiasm suggests the idea isn't off the table. As the studio focuses on Persona 4 Revival, it's also looking ahead to Persona 6, which was first teased in June. Additionally, a live-action series adaptation of the franchise is reportedly in development.
