Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Take Over 100 Hours for Completionists, Director Says

Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, has hinted that completing the remake trilogy's final installment could take over 100 hours for completionists. In an interview with GameSpot, Hamaguchi discussed the scope of the game, which is set to launch for PC and consoles next year. He noted that a thorough playthrough, checking every asset and element, would easily exceed 100 hours. However, as director, he often skips combat to focus on the main story due to time constraints.

The previous games, Remake and Rebirth, were already massive, and the 2027 finale is expected to be even bigger. Players will journey with Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Vincent Valentine, and others as they use the Highwind airship to travel and confront Sephiroth. With more mini-games, battles, and explorable areas, Square Enix has packed the experience with content. Hamaguchi revealed he has already completed 46 full playthroughs ahead of the April 2027 launch.

He added that he tries to play as much as possible, even bringing a PS5 controller on business trips to check the latest build for issues. Of course, not everyone will invest the same time; some will explore every detail, while others will rush through the story. The exact playtime for different styles remains unclear, and Hamaguchi's estimate could change before launch. Additionally, the game is expected to require around 200GB of storage, as he told VGC.
