Crimson Desert developer and publisher Pearl Abyss has released its latest financial results, revealing the game's impressive earnings and confirming plans for downloadable content (DLC). The single-player open-world fantasy action game has sold over 5 million copies since its March 19 launch. In its Q1 2026 report (ending March 31), Pearl Abyss disclosed that Crimson Desert generated KRW 266.5 billion (approximately $178.8 million) in just a couple of weeks. Sales were evenly split between console and PC, with over 80% coming from North America and Europe. Looking ahead, the company projects full-year revenue of KRW 644.1–734.8 billion ($432.2–514.4 million). While sales are expected to slow in Q2 2026 due to front-loading, Pearl Abyss plans to maintain momentum with frequent updates—remarkably, the game has received game-changing patches almost weekly since launch. Labor costs are set to more than double in Q2 due to performance bonuses tied to the game's success. The company currently employs 1,024 people, though some contractors hired for launch are expected to depart. Regarding future content, Pearl Abyss stated: 'We are currently exploring various ways to broaden the game to the next level, including DLC. Details will be shared once concrete plans are set.' Players have discovered unused areas on the map, such as the named region Sunbaked Peaks to the east, which could potentially be opened up in a story expansion.
