Pearl Abyss has announced that Crimson Desert has sold over 6 million copies worldwide, achieving this impressive milestone just 83 days after launch. The game sold 2 million copies on its first day and surpassed 5 million within its first month. The South Korean developer expressed gratitude to players: 'Your adventures and tales continue to make the journey of Crimson Desert even more special. Once again, thank you to every Greymane who has stepped into Pywel and experienced the world of Crimson Desert in their own way.' CEO Jin-young Heo added: 'We are sincerely grateful to players around the world for helping Crimson Desert achieve meaningful success in the global market despite being a new IP. To provide more enjoyable and better experiences, Pearl Abyss will continue moving forward and taking on new challenges.' Launched on March 19, Crimson Desert was an instant hit. In its latest financial results, which covered only a few weeks of sales, Pearl Abyss reported that Crimson Desert generated KRW 266.5 billion (approx. $178.8 million), with over 80% of sales coming from North America and Europe. The company projects full-year revenue from the game to be between KRW 644.1 billion and KRW 734.8 billion (approx. $432.2 million to $514.4 million), meaning it could exceed half a billion dollars if it hits the high end of estimates. While revenue is expected to 'soften' in Q2 2026 due to front-loaded initial sales, Pearl Abyss anticipates stable performance supported by frequent updates—remarkably, the developer has released game-changing patches almost weekly since launch. The game's success has also led to performance bonuses for staff, valued at approximately $3,400 per employee. This news follows Pearl Abyss' announcement of a summer content roadmap and confirmation that DLC is in development.
