The developers at Straight4 Studios have openly admitted that Project Motor Racing failed to meet expectations when it launched in November. In a recent newsletter update, the studio acknowledged the game's shortcomings and revealed plans for a substantial update scheduled for the end of March.
"When we released Project Motor Racing in November, our goal was to create a racing simulator that truly captured the intensity, immersion, and discipline of real motorsport," the studio stated. "But let's be honest: we missed the mark, especially on the most important aspects. We disappointed our players, and we disappointed ourselves."
Straight4 Studios confessed that "more than one thing" went wrong with the initial release and explained they've been working "tirelessly to correct course." The team emphasized their commitment to player feedback, noting, "We've been listening closely to all your comments—the positive, the negative, and the brutally honest—and acting on them. We're now seven patches into transforming Project Motor Racing into the experience you deserve. Are we there yet? Not quite. But we're steadily moving toward the standard you expect and the standard we demand of ourselves."
The studio announced that a "really significant update" arriving at the end of March will focus on resetting Project Motor Racing's foundation and bringing the simulator closer to what a serious motorsport title should deliver. More details about this update will be shared throughout March.
Just days ago, Project Motor Racing received its latest update, which introduced the 2013 Ford FG Falcon V8 Supercar as a free vehicle for all players and featured a "total overhaul to the GT4 class."
IGN's review from November 2025 highlighted Project Motor Racing's impressive car selection and praised its standalone nature, which avoided subscription models or "free-to-play tricks." However, the review also noted that at launch, "Project Motor Racing felt like an early access game that wasn't labeled as such," resulting in a "mediocre single-player racing experience" at that time.
