PlayStation 5 owners are reporting sightings of a revamped dashboard design, suggesting Sony is currently testing a new interface for the console. Multiple users who previously enrolled in the PS5 beta program have observed the updated layout upon starting their systems.

The cleaner design, which organizes system icons into a top navigation bar for a more streamlined appearance, was first highlighted yesterday by Reddit user FSTGang, who noted its unexpected appearance. Screenshots of the interface have since circulated on social media, with other beta participants confirming they also have access to the new look.

Fans are now speculating that this redesign could pave the way for the return of comprehensive themes, similar to those available on the PS4. Comments from users reflect this anticipation, with one stating, "I see standardized icons all in a row. BRING THOSE THEMES BACK BOIS," while another pleaded, "Please mean themes please be a teaser for themes." A third user remarked, "They doing everything else but not adding themes."

This development follows Sony's recent announcement of a PS5 price increase, its second within a year, effective April 2, 2026, for the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal. The company cited "continued pressures in the global economic landscape" as the reason, stating it was "a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide." Some fans are wondering if these funds might support the reintroduction of themes.

Sony commonly tests PS5 updates with a limited group of beta users before a broader rollout to all players. While the company has not yet publicly commented on this dashboard test, more information is expected soon. In the meantime, share your experiences if the new design appears on your console!
