The Sims 4 is receiving a massive base game update on May 12, bringing over 150 bug fixes and new features. The development team has prioritized community-requested improvements, including optimizations for Infants, Toddlers, Sleep, and Sim autonomy. Players voted on their top issues to shape the update's focus.
Key changes include more frequent automatic backup saves, a new 'Base Layers' category in Create a Sim with 380+ variants for layering clothing, and an Infant Playmat. A new option to disable caregiver autonomy for infants allows full manual control. Autonomy fixes reduce excessive dancing and autonomous drinking, while sleeping behavior becomes more reliable.
Royalty & Legacy content receives fixes for 'Poor Leadership' sentiment, dynasty offspring issues, and Grand Ball events. General fixes address inventory bugs, Family Tree accuracy, and Gallery sorting reverting to 'Newest.'
The team promises continued updates, free content, and collaborations. A Dev Q&A on The Sims Discord (May 5, 2pm PT) and a Twitch Livestream (May 6, 10am PT) will reveal more. Full patch notes arrive May 12.
