The original Toy Story 3 video game is set to be removed from the digital Xbox store just weeks before its remastered version hits shelves in October.

The store page for the 2010 cult classic has been updated with a notice confirming that it will be delisted starting September 29, 2026, as reported by TrueAchievements. This means the Pixar-themed game will no longer be available for purchase at its $9.99 price point on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S after that date, though existing owners will still be able to play it.

It's not hard to guess the reason behind the delisting: a remaster is on the horizon. On October 15, just over two weeks after the original is pulled, Atari and Digital Eclipse will release Toy Story 3: Complete Edition.

The remaster promises to bring the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 era title to modern platforms with enhanced graphics, resolution, and frame rate, along with previously exclusive content. The delisting notice also mentions the Complete Edition, suggesting Disney is already steering players toward the new version.

"Starting on September 29, 2026, Toy Story 3 will no longer be available for purchase. Players who have purchased Toy Story 3 will still be able to access the game after this date," the Xbox store page states. "Toy Story 3: The Complete Edition will be released on October 15th, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, and will include all of the features in the original game with updated graphics and additional new features."

The original Toy Story 3 was developed by Avalanche Software and published by Disney Interactive Studios. Earlier this year, Disney, Atari, and Digital Eclipse announced the Complete Edition remaster, which is part of a broader collection of re-released Toy Story games called Toy Story: Retro Roundup.

Both titles will launch on October 15 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pricing varies between physical and digital editions, as well as by platform.

A physical two-pack bundle containing both the Complete Edition and Retro Roundup is priced at $39.99 for the original Switch and PlayStation platforms, while the Switch 2 physical copy costs $49.99. On the Nintendo eShop, the standalone Toy Story 3 remaster is listed at $19.99 for either Switch console. Either way, if you want to keep playing Toy Story 3 after the September cutoff, you'll need to shell out for the new bells and whistles.

"Reopen the toy chest and saddle up as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie in Toy Story 3 Complete Edition, a 3D adventure based on the hit 2010 animated film, Toy Story 3," reads the official description. "Now available for modern systems, the updated game features improved graphics and a few new surprises in store. Play through authentic moments from the movie in Story Mode, or drop into the wild west sandbox of Woody's Roundup in Toy Box Mode."

Toy Story 3 is highly regarded, at least as far as movie tie-in games go. IGN gave it a 7.5/10 review in 2010, calling it "an example of when a license game is done mostly right."
