Rockstar has dropped the launch trailer for GTA 6, giving fans a fresh look at protagonists Jason and Lucia, along with the game's expansive open world.
The 1-minute-30-second trailer delves into Jason's troubled history, including his less-than-honorable discharge from the army. We catch glimpses of a steamy shower scene with Lucia, who is seen wearing an ankle monitor, and plenty of high-octane open-world action.
Instead of gameplay, the launch trailer focuses on cinematic sequences as the game's November 19 release approaches. Thanks to Rockstar's partnership with Sony, the PS5 takes center stage, with a "plays best on PS5" message at the beginning. The trailer confirms the footage was "captured on PS5."
The trailer opens with Jason's narration: "I got in some trouble in the army," he says. "Didn't leave on the best of terms. They don't give loans or anything to people like me." We see a bearded Jason working at Brian's Marina, polishing a boat before receiving a call from Lucia Caminos. Presumably, this is the call that sets him on a path to pick up Lucia from prison.
We're shown what appear to be flashbacks to Jason's military days, where he seems to have been in special forces. We see him wading through water as part of a unit and leaping from a helicopter on a mission. However, these scenes could also be set in the present, with Jason possibly preparing for a police operation. Either way, it explains his proficiency with firearms.
The trailer then treats us to various shots of Jason and Lucia causing chaos across Vice City, including that steamy shower scene. The image of Lucia with an ankle tag might hint at initial exploration limits, with the world opening up as the story progresses, but that's just speculation.
"Are we gonna be okay?" Lucia asks Jason after more explosive scenes. "We stuck together through everything," Jason replies. "Just gotta get through it."

We also have confirmation that electronic duo Justice composed the original score for GTA 6. Their track, "Flower in a Hurricane," featuring fellow Grammy-winners Tame Impala and SZA along with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, plays during the launch trailer.
