LEGO Astro Bot Set Leaked, But It Won't Be Sold Separately

LEGO is set to release an adorable Astro Bot set, but you won't be able to buy it on its own. The Astro Bot (40899) set, consisting of 276 pieces, will be offered as a Gift With Purchase (GWP) when you buy the previously revealed LEGO PlayStation directly from LEGO stores or its website, while supplies last.

Rumors of this Astro Bot GWP have been circulating for a while, and now images of its box—confirming it won't be available for individual purchase—have been shared by Brick Tap.

With Sackboy missing and presumed recycled, Astro Bot has become Sony's de facto PlayStation mascot, so his inclusion as an add-on for the official PlayStation set isn't too surprising. (The PS1 set also includes some cool Easter eggs referencing Sony series like Gran Turismo and Ape Escape.) This Astro Bot figure stands 20cm / 8" tall and 12cm / 4.5" wide.

It's a great-looking design that PlayStation fans will likely want on their shelves. Not keen on spending $179.99 on a LEGO PS1 just to get it? As with all GWP sets, expect Astro Bot to pop up on resale sites quickly, albeit at inflated prices.

LEGO has yet to officially announce Astro Bot, and preorders for the LEGO PlayStation are still not live—despite the set launching on October 4 (or October 1 for LEGO Insiders). We'll update here when preorders become available so you can keep an eye out.

As for Astro Bot himself, we strongly expect another entry in the Astro series to follow 2024's beloved Astro Bot for PlayStation 5.
