An Italian YouTuber, Mike ShowSha, recently visited Rockstar Games ahead of the GTA 6 Netflix showcase, where developers allegedly told him that overly dedicated fans were literally measuring oxygen levels around the studio in anticipation of a new trailer.
Back in June, a GTA superfan went viral for supposedly checking oxygen levels near Rockstar North's campus. The theory was that increased oxygen consumption would indicate more staff on site, suggesting intense development or an upcoming announcement. The same fan had also set up acoustic equipment outside and camped nearby, monitoring employee traffic to gauge progress on the game.
Update: He started monitoring oxygen around Rockstar North, and he believes Trailer 3 is coming soon after noticing that oxygen levels dropped to around 20.3% and 20.04% after 5 PM, suggesting increased oxygen consumption in the area after normal working hours.(Source:… https://t.co/nG5kOSTgkh pic.twitter.com/9XiN31cNLU
Mike ShowSha was among the select creators invited to Rockstar's offices for an up-close look at the game before its extended preview hit Netflix. He claims that employees confirmed the superfan's oxygen-measuring antics.
"Guys, I've been told some weird things," the YouTuber said in an August 28 video, translated from Italian. "Like, there are people who measure oxygen levels — I don't know how they do it, but they told me this at Rockstar, so I'd tend to believe them. Because if there's a sign that suggests more people are inside the studios, it means development has increased, and therefore it's about to happen. It's crazy."
Reactions to this story have been a mix of amusement and disbelief. One X user joked, "No wonder they started the trailer with, 'Yoo, Crackheads!'" Another commented, "That level of obsession over a trailer is wild." A third asked, "Bruh, who thinks like this? I mean, it's pretty smart, but think about what people would do if they really want something."
Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally set to launch on November 19, 2026, which will put an end to the 'We got [XYZ] before GTA 6' memes. We got a good look at what to expect from the extended Netflix showcase, as well as from our own visit to Rockstar's offices, where we learned 69 new details about the game — including the fact that you don't have to actively engage with Jason and Lucia's relationship mechanic if you don't want to.
While hype for this game is at an all-time high, not everyone is thrilled about its likely record-breaking release. Some spouses have taken to social media to claim that playing the game is effectively cheating due to the relationship between Jason and Lucia. We're not sure what's wilder — that, or a fan literally camping outside Rockstar's campus to measure oxygen levels.
