Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will feature the iconic drunk loading screen where Edward Kenway stumbles around the Animus, despite a recent post that caused confusion among fans.
The publisher behind the stealth-action series set off alarm bells yesterday with a post showing gameplay of what it called a "AC Black Flag Resynced drunk loading screen." The footage was odd because it showed the remake's pirate protagonist walking steadily while the screen wobbled around him.
Fans of the original Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will recall that in the 2013 title, Edward could down a few bottles of rum and drunkenly trip through the Animus load screen during one story segment. Ubisoft's post made some worry that this feature would be replaced by whatever was shown in the new footage.

"I'm sorry man but this is genuinely embarrassing why would you post this," one X/Twitter user commented.
"But he's not acting or moving like he's drunk at all..." another pointed out.
It's unclear whether Ubisoft intended the post as a joke, but it was enough to leave a sea of eager fans seeking answers. However, it only took about a day for the publisher to clarify that the beloved moment will indeed return in the remake. Check out the new version of a drunk Edward Kenway below.

"Keep Rum and Carry On," lead producer Justin Ng said in a follow-up message.
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launches on July 9, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Alongside the drunken loading screen, the remake will feature a no-HUD option and blood during combat, addressing fan concerns.
