Focus Entertainment, the publisher of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, has teased upcoming content for the game's third year, including a new class set to arrive in 2027. The highly successful third-person co-op action game has already introduced one new DLC class—the Techmarine—and fans were eager for more. In a community update, Focus confirmed that another new class is planned for the first half of 2027, meaning it should launch before the end of June.
While the publisher hasn't revealed what the class will be, they emphasized it's a "highly requested by the community" addition. Potential candidates include the Apothecary, Judiciar, or Chaplain, with many speculating the Apothecary as a heavy-duty support class with powerful healing abilities and unique gameplay around harvesting Gene-seed. "As we did with the Techmarine, this new Class will receive its own special Champion Skin after its release," Focus added.
Beyond the new class, Year 3 will bring five major updates (Patches 15-19). "Once again, there’ll be plenty of free content for everyone, including new weapons, missions, and more," Focus said. "On top of that, there’ll be a Season Pass packed with Chapter cosmetics and Champion skins." The publisher also promised continued improvements to user experience and bug fixes throughout the year.
The Year 3 roadmap will be revealed alongside the Second Anniversary Update, expected this September. This tease follows the release of Patch 13, the Purgation Update, which added a new PvE mission, a major Siege Mode update, the Bolt Carbine Sidearm weapon, and the Iron Hands Chapter Pack, plus a new Practice Arena in the Battle-Barge.
Space Marine 2 continues to thrive after its blockbuster launch, with over 12 million players since its 2024 debut. The game's success has been transformative for developer Saber Interactive, as Tim Willits, development chief, told IGN that Space Marine 2 "changed everything" for the studio. Recent additions to PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass have further boosted player numbers. Notably, Space Marine 3 was announced shortly after the sequel's release, though details remain scarce.
