IO Interactive has revealed a year-one roadmap for 007 First Light, indicating substantial post-launch support. During Summer Game Fest, the studio released a teaser trailer for a new story DLC centered on Bawama, the pirate king warlord portrayed by Lenny Kravitz. Details are scarce, but given his abrupt storyline conclusion in the base game, a return makes sense. It's unclear whether this will be a paid expansion or a free update.
The roadmap also includes a year of updates featuring new TacSim challenges, a new gadget, New Game+ mode, and a photo mode. IO Interactive described this as the "year one" plan, hinting at even more content beyond that. The studio has a history of supporting games with extensive extras, but success will likely depend on sustained player engagement. While Hitman offers more replayability, 007 First Light appears to be thriving thanks to strong word of mouth.
Estimates suggest the game sold over 2 million copies in its first week and has received widespread acclaim from fans and critics. IGN gave it a 9/10, praising its dedication to bringing the Bond fantasy to life like never before.
IO Interactive also set up a sequel at the end of 007 First Light, which Amazon recently confirmed will not be self-published by IO Interactive. Amazon is expected to take a larger role in future Bond games, handling publishing for any sequels.
