Poncle, the developer behind Vampire Survivors, is merging its casual shoot-'em-up gameplay with one of the most beloved anime franchises for a new title called Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton.
The unexpected collaboration debuted during today's Nintendo Direct. Following the original Vampire Survivors and this year's Vampire Crawlers, Poncle is enlisting Yuji Itadori to battle an endless horde of cursed spirits.
The first trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton will look very familiar to fans of the studio's previous work. Instead of classic ghouls and ghosts, it gets a Jujutsu Kaisen makeover while keeping the pixelated style and addictive one-more-run gameplay that made Vampire Survivors a hit. It's a multiplayer anime twist on a proven formula, and you can check out its Nintendo Direct reveal trailer below.
"Players battle wave after wave of cursed spirits while competing against up to seven rivals in fast-paced online multiplayer matches," reads an official description. "Choose from 20+ playable characters from the Jujutsu Kaisen universe and use simple movement-based controls with automatic attacks, where success depends on strategic positioning and timing. Players earn points by defeating enemies, unlock game-changing 'Rule Additions' every 100 points, and compete for the top spot in dynamic rankings. The experience culminates in a final duel between the top two players. JUJUTSU KAISEN RUMBLE: SURVIVATON readies for battle on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026."
With over 20 playable characters from the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, we can expect many fan favorites. The trailer teased several, including Yuji, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, Toge Inumaki, Kento Nanami, Yuta Okkotsu, and, of course, Satoru Gojo.
It's unclear how robust the single-player offerings will be, but the trailer confirmed an offline mode with CPU opponents. The price and release date haven't been revealed, except for Poncle's promise to launch before the end of the year.
In addition to Nintendo Switch 2, Jujutsu Kaisen Rumble: Survivaton is coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. When it releases, it should help ease the wait for The Culling Game Part 2 after the Jujutsu Kaisen anime left fans hanging with the end of Season 3 earlier this year.
