Borderlands 4's inaugural premium DLC, Bounty Pack 2: Legend of the Stone Demon, is set to launch on February 26, 2026. Gearbox describes this addition as "all-new bite-sized yet flavorful narrative content," featuring a fresh mission, Legendary loot to hunt down, and a themed Vault Card packed with 24 cosmetics and four "rerollable pieces of gear unlocked through gameplay."

While the developers are keeping story specifics under wraps for now, promising more details on Legend of the Stone Demon "closer to the launch," they've shared insights into the "major" update accompanying Bounty Pack 2: Pearlescent gear. This new rarity tier boasts "power levels superior to even Legendary gear" and will be accessible to all Borderlands 4 players, regardless of their game edition, though some Pearlescent items will be exclusive to Bounty Pack 2.

In addition, a sneak peek at future content reveals that the first Story Pack for Borderlands 4, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned, is slated for release next month. It will bring multiple main and side missions set in a new zone of Kairos, along with new gear and cosmetics. The narrative centers on the "return of the indomitable fan-favorite Ellie" and adopts a "cosmic horror theme with a bloodier, darker tone." This pack also introduces the first new playable Vault Hunter, C4SH, a former casino dealer bot.

Reflecting on the base game, IGN's Borderlands 4 review awarded it an 8/10, stating, "Borderlands 4 gives the series the massive kick in the pants it has needed, with a fantastic open world and greatly improved combat, even if bugs and invisible walls can sometimes throw off that groove."

Earlier this week, it was reported that Borderlands 4 publisher Take-Two announced the Switch 2 version of the game is now on "pause" following a last-minute delay. Initially revealed during Nintendo's April 2025 Direct and scheduled for October 3, 2025, the port was canceled just a week before launch, with pre-orders refunded. Gearbox has framed this as a delay rather than a complete cancellation of the project.
