Information about the upcoming PlayStation-published title Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls has surfaced online just days before this week's major State of Play presentation.

The eagerly awaited Marvel fighting game will launch with 20 characters and include a single-player "Episode Mode," according to a Steam page description that was briefly visible before being removed. The leak was quickly captured and shared across social media platforms.

Marvel Tokon's character roster is noted as "expanding," indicating that more heroes and villains from the Marvel universe will likely join the game post-launch.

Online features mentioned include 64-player lobbies with standard versus modes. PC players will need a PlayStation Network account to access these features.

Developed by Arc System Works, the studio behind Guilty Gear Strive, the game has been announced for PlayStation 5 and PC with a tentative 2026 release window. The timing of this leak, occurring just before Sony's hour-long State of Play event, suggests official announcements may be imminent.

Currently, only eight characters have been officially confirmed: Captain America (Steve Rogers), Doctor Doom, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Iron Man, Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Spider-Man (Peter Parker), Star-Lord, and Storm. More reveals are expected soon.

The leaked description states: "Assemble your team of legendary Marvel characters in the ultimate 4v4 tag team fighter from PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works and Marvel Games. Build your dream team and break some spirits in blistering 4v4 fighting action. Choose from an expanding roster of 20 iconic Marvel characters at launch, each rendered in a bold new anime-inspired art style as members of unique hero and villain teams.

Experiment with team compositions to discover new combos, synergies, and strategies. Battle across dynamic stages based on iconic Marvel Universe locations, some featuring interactive transitions. The fighting system offers immersive, intuitive gameplay with diverse move sets, combos, and strategies to master. Adjustable controls, including traditional and quick input options, plus easy chain combos make jumping into the action seamless.

Challenge friends locally or join up to 64 players in online lobbies with standard versus modes. Dive deeper into each team's story through the single-player Episode Mode to explore team dynamics and lore. An internet connection and PlayStation account are required for online play."

Sony's State of Play is scheduled for Thursday, February 12 at 2 PM Pacific / 5 PM Eastern / 10 PM UK time. IGN will provide live coverage of the event.
