Norwegian electronics retailer Komplett has launched a cheeky promotional campaign promising free copies of Grand Theft Auto 6 to anyone who gives birth on the game's official release date, exactly nine months from now.

The store chain has playfully encouraged fans to, well, get busy if they want to qualify for this unusual offer. Social media posts and Reddit threads have been buzzing with images of promotional posters spotted in Oslo, Norway's capital, confirming this isn't just an April Fool's joke.

Posters displayed around Oslo this week feature the bold declaration "GTA 6 dropping in 9 months ;)" alongside an image of a disheveled bed with scattered pillows and rose petals—leaving little to the imagination about what the campaign is suggesting.

On Instagram, Komplett has described timing a birth to coincide with GTA 6's launch as a "life hack," noting the perfect alignment with Norway's generous parental leave policies. Norwegian parents can take 49 weeks at full salary or 61 weeks at 80% salary, which could theoretically allow for plenty of gaming time alongside newborn care.

"This is actually not nonsense," Komplett clarified in an Instagram video caption. "GTA 6 is released in 9 months (🤞) and if you have a baby on the launch date, we'll give you the game for free."

While the campaign has certainly generated headlines and social media buzz, many online commentators have pointed out the practical challenges. Reddit users have been particularly vocal, with one noting, "Lol, you're not getting time to play GTA 6 if you have a screaming baby at home," while another calculated, "That baby is gonna cost alooooot more than 70 dollars..."

One parent shared the harsh reality: "Haven't slept in 6 days, nipples are like bullets and I've been hit in the face with explosive diarrhea. I don't even know what my name is right now let alone how to turn on a game, but I'm sure it's good."

The promotional stunt comes as GTA 6 publisher Take-Two Interactive has provided its strongest indication yet that the highly anticipated title will hit its current November 19, 2026 release date after previous delays. During recent financial results announcements, Take-Two confirmed marketing for what's expected to be the biggest entertainment launch in history will begin this summer, while also denying rumors of a digital-only initial release.
