Konami has officially unveiled Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, confirming that remasters of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and the long-awaited Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots are coming to PlayStation 5 later this year. The announcement was made during the February 2026 State of Play event, marking the publisher's first major reveal for the follow-up bundle.

This collection ensures that two beloved tactical espionage action games will receive modern updates, but the biggest news is that MGS4 will finally escape its PlayStation 3 exclusivity when the collection launches on August 27, 2026. While a PS5 release is confirmed, details about other platforms remain unclear for now.

Originally released in 2008 for the PS3, Hideo Kojima's fourth mainline Metal Gear Solid game features David Hayter voicing an aging Solid Snake. For 18 years, the title has remained locked to the aging console, limiting official access to those who still own the hardware. Now, Old Snake's story will be playable on newer systems.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 also includes 2010's MGS: Peace Walker, which first launched on PSP before arriving on PS3 and Xbox 360. Although specific enhancements for the Master Collection haven't been detailed, fans widely agree that modern ports for both games are long overdue.

Konami released Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 in October 2023, and despite hints of future volumes, had remained mostly silent about a sequel. Following a leak and confirmation from IGN, the publisher finally teased more remasters in August 2024, asking fans to "stay tuned."

As anticipation builds for whether Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 will have a smoother launch than its predecessor, you can explore Konami's efforts to reassure players. Additionally, check out Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, a remake of MGS3 that earned an 8/10 rating from us.
