Sony wrapped up its latest State of Play presentation with two major God of War announcements: a surprise shadow-drop of the side-scrolling spin-off God of War: Sons of Sparta, available right now, and the reveal of a God of War Trilogy Remake project.
TC Carson, the original voice actor for Kratos, made an appearance to confirm both projects, hinting at his likely involvement. The original God of War first launched in 2005 on the PlayStation 2, followed by its sequel in 2007. God of War 3 debuted on the PlayStation 3 in 2010.
No release date was given for the God of War Trilogy Remake, with Sony noting that development is still in its early stages. The announcement featured little more than a few logos, but for fans of Kratos' epic Greek adventures, those logos were an exciting glimpse into the future.
Meanwhile, God of War: Sons of Sparta is described as a passion project from indie retro developer Mega Cat Studios and is launching today. For a full rundown of all the announcements from Sony's State of Play, check out the complete coverage here.
