Bloober Team has officially announced the video game they hinted at last month, confirming it as Layers of Fear 3. The reveal came during a special video presentation marking the 10th anniversary of the Layers of Fear franchise. CEO Piotr Babieno expressed gratitude to fans for their enduring support over the years, leading up to the big announcement of the third installment.
Layers of Fear is a psychological horror series that began with the original game in 2016, followed by Layers of Fear 2 in 2021, and a remake in 2023. Details about Layers of Fear 3 are still scarce, with no release window or confirmed platforms announced yet. However, Bloober Team shared a chilling live-action teaser to build anticipation. In the teaser, a man recites William Blake's poem 'The Sick Rose' in an opulent room, while eerie events unfold around him. Paintings depict a woman, likely the 'sick rose,' and a humanoid figure with a sewn-shut mouth, hinting at themes of illness and haunting. A ghostly presence passes by, causing one painting to fall, which the man dismisses as the work of his 'little friend' who struggles with the afterlife. The teaser concludes with a Valentine's Day warning and a sand timer being flipped, accompanied by the tagline: 'Some Things Never Leave The Walls. They Only Learn To Wait.'
For now, that's all the information available on Layers of Fear 3. This project adds to Bloober Team's busy slate, which includes the highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 remake for Konami. The studio's subsidiary, Broken Mirror Games, is also developing smaller titles, such as a mysterious Switch exclusive known as Project M. This announcement caps off a notable period for the Polish developer, which has seen success with the Silent Hill 2 remake and self-published games like Cronos: The New Dawn and The Medium.
