Assassin's Creed Shadows Still Getting Updates After Nearly a Year, Adds Jump Button

It's been close to a year since Assassin's Creed Shadows launched, but Ubisoft isn't finished with its feudal Japan adventure. The latest update introduces a manual jump button, along with two other fan-requested features.

As part of the 1.1.8 patch rolling out today, February 17, Ubisoft is bringing back a manual jump option for players who have enabled Advanced Parkour settings—a mechanic familiar from earlier games in the series.

Two additional tweaks are also included: a detailed stat page for fine-tuning character builds, and visual enhancements for critical hits. All these changes were directly requested by the community, so they're likely to be well-received.

However, this update marks a relatively minor addition, appearing to be the only significant one in the first three months of 2026. The previous update, 1.1.7, arrived in December, concluding a nine-month stretch of monthly post-launch support.

Today's patch is the first notable update for Assassin's Creed Shadows in 2026. According to Ubisoft's Winter Roadmap, it's expected to be the only major update before the game's anniversary on March 20, which the company plans to celebrate with a livestream and giveaways. Fans are hoping to learn more about the game's second-year plans during that event.

Before then, the only other significant development is the Switch 2 release of the Claws of Awaji expansion, which wraps up the main story and now seems to be the sole major expansion for the game. This level of support pales in comparison to the previous title, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which received three major expansions, an Odyssey crossover DLC, an epilogue DLC, and several new game modes.

Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Ubisoft canceled a multiplayer Assassin's Creed game that initially started as DLC for Shadows. The scrapped content would have featured four Assassins teaming up for scripted missions with up to four players, concluding the story from the now-canceled Season Pass.

Looking ahead, 2026 is widely anticipated to be the year Ubisoft finally releases its long-awaited Assassin's Creed: Black Flag remaster, which has leaked repeatedly. For now, though, the project remains officially unannounced.
