Christopher Judge, the acclaimed voice actor behind Kratos in the recent God of War games, has dropped a hint that fans can expect significant updates about the series around "late summer." This tease came from a recording by streamer and YouTuber Fuzhpuzy at Canada's Fan Expo, where Judge, possibly unaware he was being recorded, clarified that while he won't be involved in the remake—a role reserved for Kratos' original voice actor, TC Carson—news about his own project with Sony Santa Monica is likely on the horizon.

The implication is that Judge is collaborating with Sony Santa Monica on a separate God of War endeavor, distinct from the studio's efforts to remake the original trilogy and the side-scrolling spin-off Sons of Sparta, which was developed externally. Intriguingly, Judge also mentioned that the upcoming remake featuring TC Carson will incorporate "all the new technology," enhanced content, and a revamped combat system.

This serves as the strongest indication yet that a brand-new God of War game from Sony Santa Monica is in development. Since the release of God of War: Ragnarök in 2022, which followed Kratos and Atreus on an epic quest through the Nine Realms, details have been scarce. Previously, a live-service multiplayer title was in the works, but in early 2025, Sony canceled two unannounced live-service projects from Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, the latter rumored to be a God of War multiplayer game. Later that year, leaks of the canceled game's details and images confirmed these speculations.

Meanwhile, Amazon's live-action Prime Video TV series adaptation of the God of War franchise is gaining momentum. The cast includes Ryan Hurst as Kratos, Callum Vinson as Atreus, with Teresa Palmer, Max Parker, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Alastair Duncan, and Mandy Patinkin portraying Sif, Heimdall, Thor, Mimir, and Odin, respectively.
