In an update released early on the launch day, February 27, the company stated that this patch will upgrade the game to Version 1.1.0. On its official website, Nintendo noted that Version 1.1.0 includes 'several fixes' but did not provide specific details, emphasizing, 'Please be sure to apply the 'Day 1 Patch' before playing the game.' While the update is expected to install automatically, players should ensure they are connected online to receive it.
Resident Evil Requiem marks the first new Resident Evil title to launch simultaneously on a Nintendo platform in many years, since Resident Evil: Revelations debuted on the 3DS in 2012. In the interim, Nintendo systems have seen cloud versions and delayed ports, with Resident Evil 7 and Village also releasing for the Switch 2 today.
In a recent video interview on Nintendo's YouTube channel, director Koshi Nakanishi revealed that the development team was initially 'skeptical' about the Switch 2's capability to run the game. However, after witnessing the hybrid console's performance, they quickly concluded it could handle the full game 'as-is.'
