Blue Prince, hailed as one of the standout video games of 2025, has made an unexpected debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 today. Nintendo confirmed this surprise eShop release during the finale of its recent Indie World broadcast, which also featured a flurry of announcements from various indie developers and publishers.

Originally released in April 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, Blue Prince is the culmination of an eight-year solo project by developer Tonda Ros. In the game, players piece together the blueprints of a dynamically shifting mansion each day, with each step forward uncovering hidden rooms, intricate gameplay mechanics, and a captivating fantasy narrative.

Delving too deeply into the game's unfolding mysteries might spoil the thrill of discovery that Blue Prince offers. However, it's safe to say that this indie puzzle roguelike is a must-play for those who haven't experienced it yet—a sentiment echoed by its glowing reviews and Game of the Year awards.

IGN praised Blue Prince as an "all-time puzzle great," drawing comparisons to genre classics like The Witness, Portal, and Myst. In IGN's review, which scored the game a 9/10, it was noted: "Its complex mysteries seamlessly blend with the strategic decisions involved in arranging the mansion's rooms on each randomized run, leaving me mentally designing floorplans long after playing."
