Minecraft World, a real-world theme park inspired by Mojang Studios' blockbuster video game, is set to bring Creepers and Crafting Tables to life when it launches in 2027.
During Minecraft Live in March 2026, Mojang Studios and Merlin Entertainments revealed their ambitious $70 million project based on the gaming phenomenon. While details are still being finalized for its location at Chessington World of Adventures in Greater London, visitors can anticipate a park filled with iconic biomes, mobs, items, and more from the Minecraft universe.
Concept art for Minecraft World showcases wooden houses, Creepers, TNT blocks, and even a Nether-themed dining area, offering a glimpse into the immersive experience.
Torfi Frans Ólafsson, senior creative director of entertainment at Minecraft, expressed excitement in a statement: "Minecraft World marks a significant step in expanding the Minecraft universe. We're delighted to collaborate with Merlin Entertainments to create a place where families and friends can literally step into the Minecraft Overworld for their own adventures. The teams at Merlin and Mojang have crafted an experience that's immersive, authentic, and welcoming, and we can't wait for our community to explore it."
Mojang and Merlin hint at attractions including a world-first coaster, interactive adventures, block-built playscapes, and themed retail and dining. While drawing inspiration from the Minecraft universe, specific details about the attractions remain under wraps, following the trend of IP-based theme parks.
Minecraft World will be the first major park based on Mojang's gaming phenomenon, though video game-themed parks aren't entirely new. Nintendo, for instance, has developed attractions for Super Mario Bros. and Donkey Kong at Super Nintendo World parks worldwide. Universal Studios has also featured haunted houses based on Five Nights at Freddy's, Fallout, and The Last of Us during Halloween Horror Nights.
Mojang and Merlin are currently focused on constructing Minecraft World for its grand opening in 2027. Further updates on the park or its attractions are yet to be announced. In the meantime, fans can catch up on other announcements from Minecraft Live 2026.
