The Expanse: Osiris Reborn has burst onto the scene with a wave of exciting updates, highlighted by its debut gameplay trailer. Owlcat Games, known for the acclaimed RPG Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, is venturing into third-person sci-fi action with this title, set in the beloved universe of The Expanse books and TV series. The trailer showcases a strong Mass Effect influence, promising an immersive experience.
During the Xbox Partner Preview event, Owlcat announced that The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will launch a closed beta on April 22, with Microsoft confirming it as a day-one release on Game Pass. The beta will run until the game's full launch in spring 2027. Accessible on Xbox Series X and S, PC via Steam, and PlayStation 5, it will be available to players who purchase the Collector's Edition or Miller's Pack. Participants can expect to test combat mechanics, navigate zero-gravity environments, and face survival challenges on a remote space station.
According to Owlcat, the beta lets players explore a Pinkwater Security space station after escaping the catastrophic events on Eros from the series. It includes interactions with characters, dialogue choices, and hands-on combat and upgrade systems once the attackers catch up. The studio aims to use player feedback to refine the final game. Owlcat noted that the beta is a work-in-progress, so performance may vary and might not reflect the final quality, recommending Xbox Series X or PlayStation 5 for optimal console play—a subtle hint at potential limitations on the Xbox Series S.
