The survival horror first-person shooter Stalker 2 is set to receive its first major story expansion this summer. Announced during the Xbox Partner Preview showcase, Stalker 2: Cost of Hope will launch on PC, Xbox Series X and S, and PlayStation 5, promising players dozens of hours of new content.

Here's the official description:

In Cost of Hope, players will once again step into the shoes of Skif, the main character from the base game. After installing the DLC, a signal on the PDA will initiate the fresh storyline as the game progresses. Developer GSC Game World has emphasized that player choices will significantly influence the unfolding events.

Cost of Hope adds two new regions to explore: "Navigate the iconic Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which was abandoned and sealed for decades but now beckons stalkers to return. Traverse the maze-like paths of the Iron Forest and discover uncharted locations along the way. Each region comes with its own hub, quests, and activities. New weapons and gear will equip Skif to better face mutants, anomalies, and other lurking dangers."

GSC Game World has revealed that Stalker 2 expansions will be released in installments, with Cost of Hope acting as the middle chapter of the "second trilogy." This confirms that a future story DLC is planned, with details to be announced later, forming a new, expansive narrative arc within the Stalker saga.

Stalker 2 and Cost of Hope are being developed during Russia's ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Stalker 2, which launched in 2024, has been a success for GSC Game World, attracting over 6 million players.
