Bethesda Game Studios has officially acknowledged the crashing issues affecting Starfield players on PlayStation 5, confirming that a hotfix is in development and scheduled for release later this week. The problems emerged shortly after Microsoft made the highly anticipated space RPG available on Sony's rival console, with users reporting game-breaking crashes, freezes, and save file problems on both standard PS5 and PS5 Pro models. Despite attempts to resolve the issues through various workarounds—such as turning off auto-save features—some players have described the port as "unplayable" and have sought refunds from Sony.

In a social media post directed at the community, Bethesda stated: "Thank you for sharing your journeys through the Settled Systems over the weekend—we've enjoyed reading about them! We're aware of the reported PS5 crashing issues and have identified a limited number of causes. We're working on a hotfix to address these problems, aiming to deploy it this week. We appreciate your reports and will provide updates as we progress."

While the announcement did not specify an exact release date for the fix or detail the underlying causes, it offers hope to fans who encountered difficulties exploring the game's universe during its launch weekend on PS5.
