Crimson Desert has sold so well that its developer, Pearl Abyss, has reportedly given each employee a $3,400 bonus. South Korean outlet MTN reported that the studio awarded staff a special bonus of 5 million Korean Won to celebrate surpassing 5 million copies sold. In an internal statement, CEO Heo Jin-young expressed deep respect and gratitude for the team's hard work, noting that the bonus was for everyone who contributed to the milestone. He added, "Our journey does not end here. The potential we confirmed today will be the most powerful driving force to overcome any challenge we face in the future." With 733 employees, the total payout amounts to approximately $2.5 million. Another bonus is expected in early 2027 based on 2026 financial performance. IGN has reached out to Pearl Abyss for comment. Last week, the Prime Minister of South Korea, Kim Min-seok, praised Crimson Desert for using in-house technology and incorporating Korean elements like taekwondo and cuisine. He called it a "new chapter in K-content" and a crucial turning point for the domestic game industry. South Korean developers, known for mobile and online PC games, have recently found success with console single-player titles like Shift Up's Stellar Blade and Neowiz's Lies of P, but Crimson Desert has sold faster than all. The game recently received its biggest patch yet, adding difficulty settings, storage improvements, and new pets. For newcomers, guides on first steps, hidden mechanics, best early weapons, skills, and essential tips are available.
