Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2's live support has officially been extended into a third year, publisher Focus Entertainment announced. The news follows the explosive third-person action game reaching an impressive 12 million players, two years after its 2024 launch. "Lately, our updates have been very well received by the community, which really motivates us to keep up the momentum for the third year," Focus said in a community post. The breakout success of Space Marine 2, set in Games Workshop's grimdark tabletop universe, cannot be overstated. Tim Willits, development chief at Saber Interactive, told IGN soon after release that the game changed everything for the studio as sales exploded and have continued at a steady pace. The recent addition of Space Marine 2 to PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass further boosted player numbers. Not long after launch, Space Marine 3 was announced, though details remain scarce. The Year 3 announcement means content not included in Year 2 will roll over and remain free. Focus didn't specify what's coming, but fans hope for at least a new playable class. "We're really excited about what's coming, and we think you will be too!" Focus teased. The updated Year 2 roadmap includes a Salamanders Champion Pack 2 and a Wargear rework allowing class-specific gear on other classes—for example, capes and iron halos on the Tactical class. Patch 13 adds capes and iron halos, while Patch 14 adds tabards and robes like the full Bulwark robe, with lore restrictions (snipers can't equip iron halos). Patch 13 also introduces Ultragrind Ordeals as part of the Trials of Resolve, an unlock system for new items. Focus warned these will be "particularly hard to achieve," designed for long-term grind with up to three difficulty tiers. Some challenges require completing an operation 100 times or slaying three Majoris or higher enemies with a single headshot on Absolute difficulty. Another addition is Perks Loadout, a highly requested quality-of-life feature allowing up to three perk loadouts for easier selection. The Battle Barge also gets a Practice Arena (solo only) to test weapons on chosen enemies at any difficulty, with damage display. Patch 13 is due by end of June, and Patch 14 by end of September, marking the end of Year 2 support.
