Grand Theft Auto 6 is skipping PC when it releases on November 19, and Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has explained why. Rockstar Games has a history of doing things their own way, often frustrating players with long periods of silence. GTA 6 was announced in December 2023, then went dark until May 2025 when it was delayed from Fall 2025 to May 2026. Rockstar broke silence again in November 2025 to confirm a new launch date of November 19, 2026. We're in the endgame now, barring any more surprise delays. Take-Two confirmed earlier this year that Rockstar would start marketing GTA 6 this summer, but gave no specifics. It seems we're finally just six months from launch—at least on consoles. In an interview with Bloomberg, Zelnick was asked why GTA 6 is skipping PC at launch. He said that's how Rockstar has always done it, and that's where the core audience is. 'Rockstar always starts on console because I think with regard to a release like that you're judged by serving the core,' Zelnick said. 'Like really serving the core consumer. If your core consumer isn't there, if they're not served first and best, you kind of don't hit your other consumers.' Zelnick is right: this has always been Rockstar's approach. GTA 6, Red Dead Redemption, GTA V, LA Noire, Max Payne 3, and Red Dead Redemption 2 all came to PC much later than consoles—some by months, others by years. GTA V hit PC a year and a half after its initial release and about six months after the Xbox One/PS4 re-release. Although Zelnick didn't explicitly say GTA 6 is coming to PC, the implication is clear: it will arrive later. Some speculate Rockstar likes to 'double dip' on audiences, with impatient fans buying on consoles and then again on PC. Rockstar also often takes extra time to polish PC versions. Red Dead Redemption 2 had enhanced visuals on PC, letting players feel the difference. In 2026, however, PC gaming is far more prevalent, making the lack of a PC launch even more notable. GTA 5 greatly benefited from its PC version, with modding giving it a major boost in the late 2010s and early 2020s. Zelnick even noted last year that gamers are increasingly moving to PC. It would make sense for Rockstar to lean into that with GTA 6, but we'll seemingly have to wait a bit to see it on PC. Zelnick also recently addressed concerns about GTA 6's price. While he didn't confirm a price point, he downplayed speculation that it would cost significantly more than the average game.
