The coming-of-age video game Mixtape features a soundtrack packed with licensed music from artists like Devo and The Smashing Pumpkins, but publisher Annapurna Interactive and developer Beethoven and Dinosaur have reassured fans that the game won't be pulled from digital stores due to license expirations. In a recent interview with Kotaku, creative director Johnny Galvatron addressed concerns, stating that the team paid extra to secure perpetual licenses for every track. Annapurna followed up on X/Twitter, saying, "We heard some people say MIXTAPE would be delisted due to music licenses expiring. That was a lie." While fears aren't unfounded—games like Rock Band 4 and Alan Wake have been delisted for similar reasons—Beethoven and Dinosaur ensured their story and music remain intact for years. Galvatron noted that the team got "pretty much everything [they] asked for," including a nod from Billy Corgan for using Smashing Pumpkins music. Mixtape launched May 7, 2026, on PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, earning a 10/10 from IGN, which called it a "masterpiece."
