Sony has officially announced a State of Play presentation for June 2 at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm UK / 11pm CEST. The event will run over 60 minutes and will feature a fresh look at Insomniac's Wolverine game, along with updates and reveals for upcoming PS5 titles.

In a PlayStation Blog post, Tim Turi, Content Communications Manager at Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated: "State of Play returns Tuesday, June 2 with more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world."

The show will kick off with Marvel's Wolverine, which makes sense given its September 15 release date. But what else can we expect? PS5 owners are hoping for a clearer picture of exclusives coming in 2026 and beyond. Will Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet appear? Will we get a release date for Guerrilla's multiplayer Horizon spinoff, Horizon Hunters Gathering? And what about Haven's Fairgames?

It's worth noting that Sony has reportedly abandoned PC ports for its narrative single-player games, meaning titles like Wolverine and Intergalactic will remain PS5 exclusives. However, multiplayer games will still launch on PC.

Could we see announcements from other Sony-owned studios? Days Gone developer Bend, Dreams developer Media Molecule, and God of War developer Sony Santa Monica are all due for new reveals. For God of War, rumors are swirling, and State of Play might be the perfect time to confirm them.

It might be too early for Sucker Punch's next game after Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei, but you never know. Will Polyphony Digital unveil the next Gran Turismo? And what's Team Asobi working on after Astro Bot?

Third-party developers might also show up. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, published by Sony and due in August, could appear. Konami might reveal something new for Metal Gear or Silent Hill, as they have in past State of Plays. Square Enix has hinted that a Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 reveal isn't far off.

State of Play arrives after price hikes for PlayStation hardware and PlayStation Plus. Sony blames "ongoing market conditions," but the reality is that PlayStation gaming has become more expensive. So, the pressure is on Sony to demonstrate the value of the PS5.

Sony isn't the only company with a big June showcase. Microsoft has an Xbox Games Showcase scheduled for June 7, and Nintendo is expected to hold a Direct around the same time, as per tradition.
