Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has surprise-released its Purgation Update alongside the Warhammer Skulls showcase. Patch 13 is now live on all platforms.
The update introduces a new PvE mission, major Siege Mode changes, a new weapon (the Bolt Carbine Sidearm), and the Iron Hands Chapter Pack. A Practice Arena has also been added to the Battle-Barge.
The Iron Hands Chapter Pack is the final DLC for the First Founding loyalist Chapters. Key Features:
- New PvE Mission: Combat Squad Veridian must reclaim a Mechanicus facility in the Kadaku swamps. Communication is lost, and Nozick's Research remains inside the laboratory.
- Practice Arena: A customizable battle arena for practicing against various enemies, trying different weapons, equipment, and loadouts.
- Perk Loadouts: Players can now switch perk loadouts alongside weapons during a session. Perk loadouts are tied to weapon loadouts.
- Expanded Customization: Each class can now equip multiple wargear items simultaneously, such as capes, iron halos, and sensor antennas. Future updates will add robes and tabards to the shared wargear pool, earned through gameplay.
- Siege Mode Overhaul: A massive update with new shop items, bosses, objectives, and a Blessings and Atonements system. Difficulty has been adjusted for quicker, more intense sessions. Max completed waves counters have been reset.
- New Ordeals: Challenging objectives with unique rewards.
- New Secondary Weapon: For Assault and Bulwark classes.
- Heroic Weapons: Three new weapons unlockable with Accolades: Plasma Pistol (Relic Battle-Worn), Chainsword (White Scars, Block), and Power Axe (Encarmine Axe, Block).
- Headshot Damage Rework: Headshot time-to-kill (TTK) is now consistent across all enemies, while non-headshot TTK is reduced by 30%. This simplifies the calculation by removing complex multiplicative stacking.
- Contested Health Rework: Still in development; not included in this patch due to complexity.
- Perk Balance: Minor adjustments for now. Future priorities include reworking Tactical (more melee builds), Vanguard (more ability diversity), and Heavy (more perk-driven playstyles).
- Burning Status Effect: Added as a new gameplay element.
- Requisition Terminal: New items added.
- Weekly Accolades: Increased from 350 to 450 per week.
- Customization: More options for Tech Marine, free decals for successor chapters and warbands (some unlocked via Ordeals), and various fixes.
- Bug Fixes: Includes fixes for Techmarine servo-gun, Plasma Pistol, Thermal Boost perk, battlefield conditions, and more. Stability, performance, and connectivity improvements also included.
Known Issues: A hotfix is planned to address certain issues.
