Bungie, the developer behind Marathon, is actively "monitoring and considering" player feedback regarding its new Cryo Archive mode. This raid-like experience, which debuted over the weekend, offers mechanics reminiscent of Destiny raids, featuring puzzles, in-match events, and dynamic objective sequences.
To access Cryo Archive, players must meet specific requirements: reach season level 25, unlock all factions by completing initial liaison contracts, and queue with a loadout valued at $5,000 credits or higher. Additionally, the mode is only available on weekends.
Following the first weekend, game director Joe Ziegler acknowledged several concerns raised by the community. These include accessibility for players unable to play on weekends, options for solo players, and the randomness of subroutine drops from vaults. Ziegler stated on Twitter/X, "Any of these may take some time to figure out, so I can’t guarantee quick solutions here, but we’ll definitely discuss these topics as a team this week. Thanks for sticking with us as we evolve the game, and helping us fight the good fight against the cyborgs, robots, and aliens!"
Player reactions have highlighted these issues. One user commented, "Destiny raid discourse again lol. For the record, I love the game, but as it is now, I doubt I’ll ever be able to seriously attempt Cryo Archive in a season without it being more accessible. Just don’t have the hours or energy I used to. I’m still fine with my purchase of Marathon even if I never play it, but I would like to." Another added, "5K loadout requirement isn’t too tough, honestly, the hardest thing for me [right now] is having [three] people to do it with."
