Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta Free on Switch 2 This Weekend

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to be playable for free on the Nintendo Switch 2 this weekend. Starting Friday, August 28 at 10 AM PDT, Switch 2 owners can dive into the game's beta, which includes a taste of the campaign, multiplayer, and the popular battle royale mode, Warzone.

The Switch 2 version comes with exclusive features like gyro controls, Joy-Con mouse support, and the ability to play on the go in handheld mode. Additionally, beta participants get complimentary access to the game's Vault Edition content, featuring special skins, weapon blueprints, and more. Players can pre-load the beta now and pre-order the full game.

This marks the first Call of Duty title on a Nintendo platform since Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U. Fans have long awaited the franchise's return to Nintendo hardware, and now it's finally happening. Digital Legends, known for their work on Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile (which was canceled) and support on the last two Black Ops games, is developing the Switch 2 version.

In 2023, Microsoft signed a legally binding deal with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty games to Nintendo platforms for ten years with full feature parity, ensuring no missing content or compromises. It remains to be seen if Nintendo fans will embrace this release, but it's encouraging to see Switch 2 gaining support from major third-party franchises.
