Grand Theft Auto VI fans believe Rockstar may have made a lore mistake, but there's likely more to it. In GTA 6's $100 Ultimate Edition, players get powerful revolvers for each protagonist. The Hawk & Little Morgan Revolver description says they were "sourced exclusively from the Vercetti Estate," implying they came from Tommy Vercetti's mansion in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. However, Tommy Vercetti shouldn't exist in this GTA universe. Rockstar's 2011 Q&A stated that PS2-era games are in a different universe from HD games (Xbox 360-era onward), so major characters shouldn't cross over, except for background figures like Lazlow. "The 'universes' are worlds interpreted at different definitions (2D, 3D, HD), so brands and radio/background characters exist in both, but three-dimensional characters do not," Rockstar explained. So what's happening? Likely just an Easter egg. Grove Street and the Ballas appeared in GTA V without implying CJ's existence. Similarly, the Vercetti Estate is a nod to franchise history. Other Tommy references appear in GTA 6: a painting of a lizard in his shirt in the second trailer, and pre-order weapon skins mimicking his shirt pattern. The trailer also showed a new version of Phil Cassidy from Vice City—now a gun store owner with both arms, appearing in his 30s or 40s instead of 70s. Rockstar may be playing loose with its universe. Maybe a new Tommy Vercetti exists in GTA 6 like Phil, or it's just a fun Easter egg. In other news, Rockstar confirmed GTA 6 will cost $80 and won't release on a physical disc. Over 60 new screenshots show customization, vehicles, and weapons. Details on GTA Online's future remain scarce, with store pages calling it a "single player" experience. GTA VI launches November 19th for Xbox Series X|S and PS5, the latter marketed as the best place to play.
