GTA 6 Fans Flood Real Nudist Resort with Fake Reviews After Spotting Leak Similarities

Grand Theft Auto 6 enthusiasts are convinced that a nudist resort in the game is based on a real-life location, and the owners are now dealing with a barrage of problematic reviews.

As if there was any doubt, GTA 6 fans are fully immersed in Rockstar Games' upcoming title. They've analyzed oxygen levels for hints about major announcements, tuned into Netflix events, and now they've pinpointed what they think inspired one of the game's locations: Cypress Cove Nudist Resort in Kissimmee, Florida (via GamesRadar).

Fans tracking down real-world inspirations for video game locations is nothing new—Arc Raiders fans did something similar in January. But while such sleuthing often leads to positive attention, Cypress Cove Nudist Resort is not enjoying the spotlight brought by GTA 6.

"For anyone wondering about the suddenly recurring references to 'Jason Duval,' 'Lucia,' binoculars, a pool, firearms, and other suspiciously similar details — those are references to Grand Theft Auto VI," the site owner said in response to one of the many reviews that have appeared on the resort's Google page recently. "Yes. A video game."

The owner, who has already taken action against the reviews, described the influx as a "coordinated series of fabricated posts using GTA VI references." They also alleged that some posts were followed by demands for payment to have the reviews changed or removed.

Their message continued: "We will not pay" and "we will not negotiate," confirming they had "documented the reviews and the request for payment." They added, "This activity is being reported through the appropriate channels."

"For our actual guests and anyone researching Cypress Cove: please understand that these posts do not describe genuine guest experiences at our resort," the resort's Google representative said. "And to whoever is behind them: We appreciate the commitment to the GTA storyline, but Cypress Cove is located in Florida — not Leonida."

GTA 6 fans first learned about an in-game nudist resort not from Rockstar but from leaks that surfaced online last month. Despite no official reveal, early footage gave enough clues for observers to piece together how the developer might have drawn from the real world for its upgraded Vice City.

Whether or not Rockstar actually used this location, most GTA 6-related reviews seem to have been removed from the Google page, but the owner's message can still be seen on a few of the more suspicious ones. These include references to leaks, such as a man who "pulled out his binoculars." One posted yesterday directly mentioned GTA 6, saying, "Will be trying to book a reservation on Nov. 19th. I will be playing GTA 6 for three days straight while nude in my RV. Shout out to Rockstar for showing me this gem of a place!"

November 19 is, of course, the long-awaited release date for the new Grand Theft Auto game. The 13-year wait has generated plenty of excitement, for better or worse, as players prepare to pick it up on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. GTA 6 fans also managed to track down the location they suspect inspired Jason and Lucia's apartment, though it remains safe from any review bombing.
