Pearl Abyss has unleashed update 1.04.00 for Crimson Desert, bringing a host of major improvements. The headline additions include difficulty settings, storage enhancements, new pets, keyboard/mouse and controller presets, inventory category tabs, new skills, improved distant scenery, and much more.
Let's dive into the details. Hard difficulty delays foot item effects until after the consumption animation, preventing health spam. You'll take more damage, enemies have increased health, aggression, and speed, and parry/dodge windows are tighter. Bosses get new combat patterns and will counterattack or escape more often. This pairs well with the upcoming boss rematch feature.
Easy difficulty reduces incoming damage, lowers enemy stats, and extends parry/dodge timings. Normal mode remains as before.
Storage gets a boost with the Sturdy Gatherables Chest (1,000 slots, purchasable from furniture shops). Materials stored inside can be used for crafting or refinement without being in your inventory. The Kuku Cooler and Enhanced Kuku Cooler store food and ingredients, usable for cooking remotely. The basic cooler is quest-rewarded, while the enhanced version is craftable.
Pet lovers rejoice: birds are now available as pets, alongside five new cat types. You can rename horses and pets, and pets gain a new equipment slot for abilities and behaviors.
In a brilliant move, Pearl Abyss has turned a bug into a feature: bosses are no longer immune during powerful attacks, making them easier. Kliff, Damiane, and Oongka receive new skills.
This unannounced content has players digging in. It's the biggest update yet for Crimson Desert, which has seen remarkable success since its March release. The rapid pace of updates is impressive for a AAA single-player open-world action adventure.
