Microsoft has dropped a major hint that Cyberpunk 2077 could be joining the Xbox Game Pass lineup soon. The tease came through a social media post from the official Xbox Game Pass account, which cleverly referenced the game's protagonist.
Although Cyberpunk 2077 launched over five years ago, CD Projekt's sci-fi epic would still be a significant addition to Microsoft's subscription service. No specific release date has been announced yet.
The social media post featured multiple references to "v"—the name of the game's main character—with messages like "Something v cool is coming soon..." An accompanying image showed a fictional internal email describing "the latest upcoming addition" as "a v good one too," with the "V" emphasized in bold.
The email's opening line, "wake up social team," is a clear nod to the iconic Cyberpunk 2077 trailer line delivered by Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand: "Wake the f**k up, Samurai! We have a city to burn."
Cyberpunk 2077 has been available on PlayStation Plus since last summer, so its potential arrival on Xbox Game Pass isn't entirely unexpected. This move could introduce new players to CD Projekt's work ahead of the rumored new DLC for The Witcher 3, expected later this year.
Meanwhile, development continues on Cyberpunk 2 and The Witcher 4, with the latter confirmed not to launch in 2026. CD Projekt has ambitious plans to follow up with The Witcher 5 and The Witcher 6 in quick succession, completing the series' second trilogy within six years.
We'll be watching for official announcements from Microsoft and will provide updates once Cyberpunk 2077's Game Pass arrival is confirmed.
