CD Projekt has announced changes to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's minimum system requirements ahead of the newly revealed third expansion, Songs of the Past. In a blog post, the developer stated that with new content coming to The Witcher 3, it will update the system requirements "to ensure smooth performance and compatibility going forward." These new requirements will take effect with the next update. CD Projekt explained that the updated minimum requirements reflect "how hardware capabilities and software usage have evolved since we last changed the system requirements." The studio noted that players who cannot meet the new minimum requirements can revert to an earlier version of The Witcher 3. However, only the latest version of the game is fully supported, as it includes all the latest improvements, fixes, and changes. There is no release date yet for the next update, but CD Projekt confirmed that Songs of the Past will launch sometime in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The DLC arrives 12 years after the original 2015 release of The Witcher 3, which has sold over 60 million copies, and 11 years after the second expansion, Blood and Wine, which launched in 2016. The first expansion, Hearts of Stone, was released in October 2015.
