The announcement came via a brief post on X/Twitter shortly after Summer Game Fest 2026 concluded yesterday, surprising fans who expected it at a larger event or a Nintendo Direct. Capcom stated, "Monster Hunter Wilds is currently in development for Nintendo Switch 2! We'll have more info to share, including the release date, in the future." The game originally launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in February 2025, skipping the original Switch due to its late lifecycle. However, given the franchise's history on Nintendo consoles, fans have been hoping for a port. While no release date has been announced, the wait appears to be ending. Details on how the Switch 2 version will differ from other platforms remain unclear. This announcement follows Capcom's reveal of the Ascendance expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds at Summer Game Fest 2026, set for 2027 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
