7% of GTA Fans Would Trade Their Pets for Early GTA 6 Access, Survey Finds

A recent poll of 1,300 American gamers has revealed some eyebrow-raising attitudes toward GTA 6, particularly when it comes to what fans would sacrifice for early access. According to the survey, 7% of respondents said they would give up their pet for a month just to play the game a week before its official release.

GTA 6 is shaping up to be a cultural juggernaut, with a marketing budget to match its record-breaking production costs. Rockstar has blanketed Miami in Vice City branding and even teamed up with the Miami Heat. Before the game's Netflix debut, fans were camped outside Rockstar's headquarters, using specialized gear to monitor oxygen levels, sound, and count cars entering and leaving the building—all for a scrap of information about the highly anticipated title.

With only weeks left until launch, excitement is at a fever pitch, and some fans are willing to make serious sacrifices for early access. The survey, conducted by Unwind Media, polled 1,347 American gamers about their feelings on GTA 6. Among the surprising responses, one stood out: 7% of fans said they'd give up their pet for a month to play the game a week early. Among those who had already pre-ordered, that number doubled to 13%.

Other findings were equally startling: 21% of all respondents said they would give up intimacy to play GTA 6 a week early—one in five fans. That figure was higher among women (25%) than men (19%).

On a more heartwarming note, over half of participants (53%) planned to play the game with their partner, viewing it as a fun shared activity. Interestingly, more women (71%) than men (39%) were eager to team up for virtual crime sprees with their significant others. This is reassuring, especially after a social media trend where some partners claimed the game's relationship mechanic was akin to "cheating." Only 8% of those surveyed genuinely felt that way, but only time will tell once the game is in players' hands.

GTA 6 is set to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S.
